06/12/2010--The 2010 MSUSBC Showcase Gala culminated with the induction of four new members to the Missouri State USBC Hall of Fame, and the chance to honor each one individually. Two members enter under the Meritorious Service category, and two under Superior Performance. Ionia Mae "Toni" Deulen was inducted posthumously in the Meritorious Service category. Toni made her life in Springfield, MO, and had her hand on the pulse of bowling there for over 65 years. Her son Steve and daughter Debbie Foster were on hand to accept the award, honoring their mother. Toni served the Springfield Women's Bowling Association for over 12 years, including two years as Vice President. She was extensively involved in Junior Bowling, serving as Secretary-Treasurer for the Greater Springfield Junior Bowling program and Tournament Director for 36 years, and in the same capacities for the Missouri State Junior Bowling Association for 18 years. As a bowler, she won SWBA City Tournament Championships in Doubles (1938), Singles (1959), and Team (1950, 1952, and 1962). Toni bowled in league until the age of 86, and was one of six women inducted in the first SWBA Hall of Fame in 1986. Toni was most proud of her "Distinguished Service Award," which was given in recognition of her outstanding service and contributions to the young bowlers of the State of Missouri. She was only the third person in history to receive this award from the Missouri State WBA in 1987. Charlene Wood of Kansas City joins the MSUSBC Hall in the Meritorious Service category as well. Charlene's service spans many levels, from local all the way to national. Longtown's Dennis Hacker is the final inductee in 2010, also in the Superior Performance category. Dennis began bowling competitively in a college intramural league at Southeast Missouri State University in 1977. At the time, he also got involved in management, running the K. of C. Bowling Center in Perryville for two years before enlisting in the U.S. Navy in 1981. Five years after joining the Navy, Dennis won his first of four All-Navy Championships. Competition at the All-Armed Forces level allowed him to advance to represent the Navy and the Armed Forces at a number of national events, including the ABC Masters and the Team USA National Finals in 1987. In Detroit, bowling to make Team USA, he qualified 15th after 24 games, and moved all the way up to 7th, the 1st Alternate Spot for Team USA 1988 after Match Play.
